In a fraction of a second, a roll bar is there when it is needed. If there is a danger of the vehicle rolling over, an electronic signal is generated: the roll bar snaps into place in just 0,3 seconds, protecting the driver and passengers.

The roll bar does not spoil the elegant lines of the Cabriolet. It is well concealed in front of the roof system and waits for the moment when it is needed - which hopefully will never come.

The bearings in which the roll bar swivels must be:

• maintenance-free,

• reliable and

• smooth running.

Freedom from maintenance and reliability are necessary characteristics since the roll bar will only operate in an emergency. Even years of inaction must not impair its functional capability.

Smooth running is important in order that the roll bar can move into place at high speed.
