The output shaft is connected to the wheelset by a rubber-jointed cardanic shaft. The rubber joint ensures that the shaft is free from clearance even though two non-locating bearings are fitted. The output shaft is supported in an aluminium housing. At higher temperatures, the housing expands more than the shaft. The extended inner rings of the two cylindrical roller bearings (non-locating bearings) permit axial displacement. The rolling resistance in the non-locating bearings remains constant. The use of non-locating bearings ensures uniform transmission of power and torque throughout the journey. |

The input shaft is supported by one cylindrical roller bearing (non-locating bearing) and two FAG angular contact ball bearings in an X arrangement (locating bearing). The difference in thermal expansion between steel and aluminium is compensated by the non-locating bearing. |

The gearbox is provided with oil bath lubrication. The rolling bearings and gears are lubricated by the same oil. |
