In the heat of summer, everyone appreciates the stream of cool air produced by a fan. Of course, hardly anyone notices the electric motor which drives the fan. Furthermore, such motors not only drive fans but a large number of other household appliances. |

The electric motors fitted in these appliances must run maintenance-free over the whole life of the appliance. If the motor fails, this often means the end of the appliance too. |

Furthermore, the motors must not make too much noise. Nobody really wants the stream of cool air to be spoilt by an accompanying buzzing noise. |
