| Function |
Trains must fulfil increasing requirements for speed and comfort, even those running on local routes. In order to allow higher speeds on the existing tracks, trains must "lean into the bend". It is only by doing so that they can use the older tracks that include many curved sections. |
|
An active tilt system is necessary since tilting due to centrifugal force is too slow and achieves only low levels of tilt. |
| Requirements |
An electromechanical adjustment drive is compact, has large power reserves and requires little maintenance. It gives a rapid response and can be used to make very fine adjustments. |

The requirements placed on the bearings and drive elements of the adjustment drive are therefore: |
