The calculated life of the cylindrical roller bearings is 32 000
h and the static load safety factor S |
In order to ensure high operational reliability at the high temperatures occurring in this application, the bearings have dimensionally rigid rings and increased radial internal clearance. |
The misalignments that may affect the rollers in a continuous casting machine are necessarily small since the quality of the cast strand would otherwise be impaired. These misalignments can be compensated without difficulty due to the crowned raceways and end profiling of the cylindrical rollers. This prevents the occurrence of unacceptably high edge stresses. |

The locating and non-locating bearings in this design are fully located. This means that the locating bearing can support an axial load of up to 30 kN and prevents axial movement of the non-locating bearing. |
Where changes in length must be compensated, this occurs inside the non-locating bearing. As a result, the axial loads involved in length compensation remain low. If changes in length were compensated outside the bearing, the outer ring would have to move under a high axial load. |
Since the housing is subjected to high radial loads, it is necessary to overcome a high level of adhesive friction. This process is extremely difficult to control. High axial loads can act on both bearings. |
Lubrication is carried out from the covered side. A portion of the grease is deliberately allowed to ecape through the labyrinth seals. |
The grease forms a barrier to water spray and scale in front of the seals. Due to this sealing technique and the Corrotect® plating, the bearing is reliably protected against rust. |

In comparison with a spherical roller bearing arrangement, the cylindrical roller bearings have the following advantages: |
